Abstract

A study, was carried out in order to determine the association and relationship of leaf number, leaf size, sucker and slip number and crown size with fruit weight, quality and the earlines of crop, and thereby to provide a basis for forecasting the yield and quality of Kew pineapple. It was found that the increases in leaf number one year after planting and the sucker number in a plant, resulted in increased fruit weight, while increase in the leaf number both one year after planting and at flowering, and the potential leaf size index resulted in increased T. S. S. content of the juice. Increase in the number of slips developing on a plant retarded the fruit maturity.
