Abstract

Veneer grafting in guava, using defoliated scion was found to be successfull when done in July which resulted in 77 per cent success. However, kinetin treatment of scion sticks at 100 and 150 ppm before grafting reduced the percentage of successful grafts. Graftting done in March and September was a complete failure in all the treatments including control, and in April and May with scions treated with kinetin. Better performance in respect of growth of grafts and production of leaves in all the treatments, was noticed in grafts made in July due to less time taken for initiation and completion of sprouting. Treatment with kinetin made no additional difference.
