Abstract

A pruning experiment in which the length of cane was varied inversely to the number of canes on the vines, the total number of buds on the vines held constant, was carried out over three years with Gulabi vines. Per cent bud burst, fruitful shoots, number of clusters and yield were highest on the vines pruned to 12-bud canes. Long cane pruning is, therefore, recommended for this cultivar grown in North India.
