The leaf (constant) factor ‘K’ of stone fruits (nine varieties of apricot, ten of peach, eleven of plum), seven varieties of pear and ten of guava grown in Uttar Pradesh was calculated. The factor ‘K’ has been suggested for different varieties with a difference in calculated and actual area which was less than only 2 per cent. On the further processing of leaf factor ‘K’ for apricot, peach, plum 0.758, 0.670, and 0.682 respectively can be used for calculating the leaf area except in the variety Charmagz of apricot and Elberta in Peach. Whereas leaf factor ‘K’ for pear and guava can be taken as 0.706 and 0.757 safely. The figures thus derived on the basis of the mean values of ‘K’ of all the above fruits studied and by multiplying with these values, the difference was always less than 5 per cent. Therefore, the above ‘K’ factors designated for apricot, peach, plum, pear and guava varieties can be safely used for calculating the actual leaf area of the above mentioned fruit plants and their varieties as stated above.
