A field trial was conducted at Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Banaras Hindu University during Rabi season of 1971 -72-1972-73 to assess the turn over of the nutrient and starch yield in relation to split application of potassium. Potato variety Kufri Sindhuri is better than Kufri Chandramukhi in its totaldry matter, starch content and uptake of potassium nutrient. Split application of potassium is quite advantageous over full basal or full foliar application. Half soil and half as foliar with high level of potassium 180 kg K2O/ha gave the maximum accumulation of dry matter, starch content and potassium uptake in tubers per hectare.
