Abstract

Benlate in water at 3000 ppm and with 0.2 per cent paraffinic mineral oil at 2000 ppm protects and checks various post-harvest rots of guava fruit (Psidiwn guajava L.) caused by Pestalotia psidii Pat., Phoma psidii P. Henn. and Gloeosporium psidii Delacr. The loss of fruit weight is minimised by benlate treatments. Under pathogenesis in each case, an oligosaccharide (Rf 0.27) was detected in the diseased tissues of guava infected by Pestalotia psidii or Phoma psidii.
