The inheritance of vegetative, characters, which contribute to the vigour of a vine has been studied and it was observed that the characters studied have polygenic inheritance. Small leaf along with smaller main vein and petiole is dominant, while cane length has been observed to be purely quantitative character. Dominance for longer internodes was also observed. For breeding a medium vigorous variety, the inclusion of a low to medium vigorous parent seems to be necessary.
