The structure of vegetative and floral primordia of the cultivar Poovan was described. The effect of different levels of functional leaves maintained during the growth and development revealed that there was delay in the differentiation of flower primordium with decrease in the level of functional leaves, whereas it was earlier with more number of functional leaves.
