Abstract

The variety seems to produce a little amount of viable pollen but due to non-dehiscence, it remains embedded within the anthers resulting in complete sterility. In the early stage of bloom, the percentage of fruit set through cross pollination was observed to be maximum as compared to full bloom and fag end of flowering period. The variety was found to set about 20.0 per cent parthenocarpic fruits, but only 5.0 per cent could retain on the tree till maturity. However, the fruits produced partheno-carpically were deformed and matured unevenly.
