Fruit Research Station, Chianki, Daltonganj
An experiment was conducted for three years at Fruit Research Station Chianki for the control of pre-harvest drop in Nagpur Santra (C. reticulata) by spray of plant growth regulators. 2, 4, 5-T at 15 ppm concentration proved to be the most effective treatment for the control of fruit drop. The size and weight of fruit and juice percentage registered an increasing trend with increasing concentration of 2, 4, D, 2, 4, 5-T and NAA. Highest percentage of sugars in fruit was found in the treatment 2, 4, 5-T at 10 and 15 ppm. The increase in titratable acidity and ascorbic acid was not so marked but were higher in treated fruits in comparison to control. Judged from T.S.S., total sugars and sugar/acid ratio it can be concluded that the quality of the fruit was improved as a result of treatment with 2, 4, 5-T and NAA at higher concentrations.
