Abstract

Investigations conducted on 29 varieties of brinjal (Solarium melongena L.) show that all the varieties bear flower cluster alongwith a solitary flower. The number of flowers per cluster ranged from 2 to 25 in all long-styled or all medium styled. In most of the varieties the flowers in cluster were either short-styled, or medium and short-styled, or all medium styled. However, the fruiting habit in a variety was not directly related to the occurrence of different flower types in cluster.
