Abstract

Fourteen promising apple cultivars introduced at Government Hill Fruit Research Station, Chaubattia from various parts of the World were described for their physico-chemical characters. The cultivars were also classsified according to their tiple of ripening, size of fruit, acid-sugar-ratio and production of fruit. On the basis of these studies, Spartan, Red Mcintosh, Cortland, Kidd's Orange Red and Red Gravenstein can be recommended for commercial planting in the temperate regions of U. P. Vered can be recommended for planting in the plains and valley areas because of its low chilling requirements.
