Abstract

Study was conducted on Perlette grapevines to find out a relationship between number of floral buds in canes as observed by microscopic examination and the number of fruitful shoots emerging in spring, with a view to forecast the yield potential of the vines. The vines were given treatments of three pruning intensities and four cane lengths. In nine out of twelve treatments expected and observed fruitfulness was found to be same at one per cent level of probability of error. There was also a similar positive relationship between observed and expected yield.
