Abstract

Three formulations of 2, 4-D viz, sodium salt, ester and amine, were tried for controlling the dicotyledonous weeds in the turf of Cynodon dactylon Pers. The studies indicated that these formulations of 2, 4-D in turf are more advantageous and significantly better than conventional methods. Even though there are no significant differences among these formulations, two-three applications of ester at 1.0 kg. a.i./ha is more effective as compared to other formulations. However three applications of 2, 4-D sodium salt and two applications of amine each at 1.5 kg. a.i./ha. can be used more safely, with more or less similar effect, near broad leaved ornamental plants.
