Two field trials were conducted for the control of insect pests of round-type brinjal (Punjab 8) during 1974 and 1975, using 5 new insecticides. All the insecticidal treatments proved equally effective against the lace-wing bug. Endosulfan, fenthion and quinalphos proved effective against the jassid for up to 10 days. For the control of hadda beetle also, these 3 treatments as under lace-wing bug proved better than the other 2, viz., phenthoate and methomyl. In controlling shoot- and fruit-borer, spraying proved effective only in 1975 when in case of both 5- and 10-days spray schedules endosulfan, phenthoate and methomyl proved equally effective and were superior to quinalphos, fenthion and control.
