Abstract

A rootstock trial on Kinnow madarin was planted during September, 1968 at Regional Fruit Research Station, Abohar in the arid-irrigated region of Punjab, to find out the most suitable rootstock for this area. For this purpose, four rootstocks were used namely Jatti Khatti (C. jambhiri), Kharna Khatta (C. karna Raf.) and Troyer and Carrizo citranges (P. trifoliata x C. sinensis). Results so far obtained have shown that maximum growth of the trees was achieved by Jatti Khatti and Kharna Khatta. The health of the trees was also much better on these rootstocks as compared to the two citranges. Yield obtained was maximum on Jatti Khatti. The overall performance was found to be the best in case of plants raised from Jatti Khatti, followed by those on Kharna Khatta.
