Effect of Storage of Bud-Sticks on Success in Veneer Grafting in Mango

Abstract

Studies on storage of bud-sticks for veneer grafting were conducted on cultivar Dashehari at the Central Mango Research Station, Lucknow. Keeping five storage periods, twelve wrapping materials and eight chemicals for treatment. Scion-sticks were defoliated five and three days before storage in two sets. It the first set the scion sticks stored for four days and in the second for six days gave better results. The bud sticks stored in polythene with moss resulted in good success while poor success was obtained with black polythene alone. Of various chemicals tried better success was recorded under fungicidal (Blitox, blitane, benlate and MBC all at 0.2per cent) and parffin wax treatments when compared with control.
