Abstract

An investigation was carried out during the season 1972–73 at the Horticulture Garden, Sabour to study the effects of nitrogen, CCC and spacings on the growth and yield of potato cultivar, Kufri Sinduri. Application of 120 kg N/ha increased the yield of tubers by increasing tuber number as well as individual tuber weight. A further increase in the dose of nitrogen was not useful. Increased production of dry matter and its greater translocation to tubers resulted in increased yield of tubers in CCC treated plants. The wider spacing failed to compensate the loss incurred due to less plant population though it had increased the yield of tubers per hill. Consequently the yield of tubers/ha was more in closer spacing as compared to wider spacing.
