Correlations and Path-coefficient of yield and its components were studied in six cultivars of brinjal and their 30 F1 hybrids. Yield/plant showed positive significant correlation with weight and size/fruit and negative significant correlation with days to bloom. Path-analysis revealed that the number of fruits/plant and weight/fruit exhibited positive direct effect on yield while the size/fruit showed low negative direct effect. Days to bloom had negative direct-effect on yield. It could be advocated that the number of fruits/plant and weight/fruit should be given more weightage in the effective selection programme.
