Abstract

The bait-trap made of vegetable oil-tins of 2.0 kg capacity, having four equidistant holes of 4 cm X 1 cm about 2 cm from the top, was found suitable for trapping the guava fruit-fly. Among the different attractants, methyl eugenol (1/3 ml) plus 200 ml water proved significantly better than other baits and attracted the highest number of male fruit-flies per trap per day. Goldensun (Indian) methyl eugenol attracted the highest number of male flies per day as compared with Burgoyne (Indian), German and Russian brands.
