A survey of 42 Orchards in Himachal Pradesh was undertaken during 1975 to study the nutritional status of apple. It was observed that the deficiencies of P and Ca are more widespread than N and K. However, Mg was not found deficient in any of the orchards surveyed. The deficiencies may be covered up by supplementing the nutrient supply and the accurate diagnosis is possible by the use of Balance Index as suggested by Kenworthy (5).
