The effect of enviromental factors on the appearance and development of powdery mildew was studied at the Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, Basti (U. P.)- It was found that the atmospheric temperature is an important factor for the appearance and development of the disease. The temperature range of 10–13°C (minimum) and 27–31°C maximum) alongwith high humidity (82–91 per cent) were found to be most suitable for the development of disease. Rainfall during infection period increased atmopheric humidity and helped in maintaining its high level.
