Crown portions of tuber used for planting sprouted significantly earlier and registered higher tuber yield compared to median and tip portions. If the crowns are to be used for planting February 14 date of planting was the best. In case median and tip portions of tuber earlier plantings in January were preferable. Neither the dates of planting nor the portions of tuber had influence on diosgenin content of tuber.
