An inter-disciplinary project on mango malformation was conducted at Central Mango Research Station, Lucknow and an account of work done on its incidence, pathogenecity and control of mango malformation by fungicides, acaricides, plant growth regulators and deblossoming are reported in the paper. Survey revealed that 82 per cent trees had varying degree of malformation and Dashehari, Lucknow Safeda and Langra were found to be most susceptible cultivars. It was also observed that young trees of 5–10 years age showed highest incidence of malformation. The fungus Fusarium moniliforme var. Subglutinans was isolated from malformed panicles. Pathogenecity test conducted on the seedlings produced vegetative malformation in 60 per cent plants. Five control trials were also laid out employing fungicides, acaricides, plant growth regulator, de-blossoming and their combinations. The results achieved showed the possibility of reducing the malady by spray of NAA 200 ppm on 1st October followed by de-blossoming at bud burst stage. The economics of mechanical de-blossoming operation was also worked out.
