A trial to evaluate the effect of seed treatments of 24 hours soaking in 125 and 250 ppm GA; 30 minutes soaking in 10 and 20 per cent H2SO4 and hand cracking after stratification on germination percentage and growth of seedlings of Super Kagzi walnuts was conducted at the Horticulture Research Station, Yusipang (Bhutan). GA at 250 and 125 ppm showed a striking increase in germination percentage and height of seedlings. Other treatments did not prove beneficial. It may, therefore, be concluded that GA at concentrations from 125 to 250 ppm can be used for seed treatment of walnuts for better germination and growth of seedlings.
