Abstract

Mineral composition of Dancy tangerine (Citrus tangirina Tanaka) fruits and the relationship of each element with the severity of granulation was studied in order to elucidate the possible nutritional cause of this physiological disorder. The accumulation of K and Mg in the peel of granulated fruits was significantly higher while the pulp showed significant increase of N, P, K and Ca as compared to normal ones. The data regarding, N, P, Ca and micronutrients in the peel and Mg and micro-nutrients in the pulp were found to be not significant. The transverse sections of the fruits also showed similar trend as observed in the analyses of pulp.
