Studies on the effect of IBA and type of hardwood cuttings on rooting in almond were conducted at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1977–78. Stem cuttings from basal, sub-apical and apical portions were taken from two almond cultivars, viz. French hybrid and Sloh (local hybrid between peach × almond) during December and were treated with IBA at concentrations of 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm for 24 hours. Cuttings of French hybrid responded better to IBA treatments than those of Sloh. 100 ppm IBA treatment was observed to be the best as it increased the rooting success, as well as the number and length of roots and shoots per cutting. Sub-apical cuttings gave a better response to rooting as compared to the basal and apical cuttings.
