Shoot length, number of leaves per shoot and size of the leaves of Habshi were more in both the seasons as compared to those of Allahabad Safeda. Allahabad Safeda and Habshi shoots of spring produced 3.17 and 2.35 floral buds per shoot respectively. In June flush the respective number was reduced being 1.50 and 1.35 only. Floral buds emerged after 24 to 49 days of shoot initiation in 3 cases but Ha bshi in June flush took longer period of 38 to 65 days. Four nodes per shoot in 3 cases and 5 nodes per shoot in June flush of Habshi were observed. In spring flush, floral buds appeared on 2nd, 3rd and 4th nodes, while in June flush they appeared on 2nd and 3rd nodes only. Thus spring flush showed more percentage fruiting nods. In both seasons, Allahabad Safeda was superior to Habshi in producing maximum fruiting nodes. In general 3rd node gave maximum floral buds in spring flush and 2nd node was second to it. Fourth node produced least. Floral buds dropped off within 10 to 12 days of emergence.
