Abstract

Eighteen varieties of grape were grown to estimate the variation for seven physico-chemical characters. A wide range of variation among cultivars was observed for all the characters. The phenotypic co-efficients for variation were found to be higher than their corresponding genotypic ones for all the characters. Both types of variation were highest for single berry weight and lowest for total soluble solids. High heritability values with high genetic advance were observed for acidity, bunch weight and single berry weight. High heritability values with low genetic advance were recorded for days from blooming to ripening and total soluble solids.
