As a result of a selection within a variety from a heterogenous bulk population gave rise to superior high yielding type which was isolated from original Tellaku grown in Nellore district (Andhra Pradesh) and it was released in the name of “Sufed” by the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University during the year 1975.
