Abstract

In Hippeastrum, treatment with high dose of nitrogen (3 N) showed maximum beneficial effect on the number of leaves, number of flower stalks and flowers. High level of phosphorus (3 P), resulted in increased production of bulbs, bulblets and flowers, compared to other nutrients. The largest flowers were also recorded due to high dose of phosphorus. High level of potassium (3 K) proved less effective in improving the growth and flowering, compared to nitrogen and phosphorus. The adverse effects of low levels of nitrogen (1/10 N) and phosphorus (1/10 P) appeared at the early stage of growth and production of flower was severely affected, whereas the adverse effect of potassium deficiency was less pronounced.
