Abstract

Induced tetraploids of Tagetes erecta L. inspite of such desirable features as larger and longer lasting flowers borne on dwarf plants are not horticulturally superior to their diploid counter parts because of conspicuous disc and the reduced number of blooms/plant. Their use in the production of autotriploids through the diploid male sterile lines is suggested.
