Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance were studied for 5 parents and their all possible 20 F1 and 20 F2 hybrids (including reciporcals). The study was made in two sets of 25 treatments each. Set I comprising parents and F1 hydrids and set II parents and F2 hybrids. Yield per plant had highest estimates of co-efficient of variability and days to maturity had the lowest value for variability co-efficient. Heritability was high for almost all the characters and genetic advance for different characters was low to moderate ranging from 3.005 to 31.510. It was concluded that selection can effectively be based on branches per plant, 100-seed weight and yield per plant in both sets.
