Abstract

Fresh rhizome yield of about 32–33 tonnes/ha could be recorded from turmeric varieties like CA-68 Daghi and CA-66 GL Puram in the hills of Meghalaya state. Quality of the dry turmeric was found to be excellent with average curcumin content of 6.5 to 7.9 per cent. Volatile oil contents varied between 3.6 to 4.8 per cent, while dry matter recovery ranged between 17.5 to 19.7 per cent. The high quality produce is suitable for export market.
