The flowering behaviour of different litchi cultivars was studied at the Fruit Research Station, Gurdaspur during 1977. Litchi cultivars, namely, Calcutta Late, Dehradun, Hong Kong, Muzaffarpur, Rose Scented, Saharanpur, seedless Early, Seedless Late, Seedless No. 1 and Seedless No. 2 were included in the present study. Anthesis started with the appearance of staminate flowers followed by pistillate hermaphrodite and staminate hermaphrodite flowers. Seedless Late cultivar had no staminate flowers. Anthesis continued for 11 to 17 days in different litchi cultivars and most part of it occurred in the day time, maximum number of pistillate hermaphrodite flowers were observed in cultivars Saharanpur, Calcutta Late, Muzaffarpur and Seedless Late. The male/female ratio was the minimum in Seedless No. 1 and the minimum in cultivar Muzaffarpur.
