Abstract

In the male-sterile grape variety Angur Kalan, effect of pollen from six male parents Anab-e-Shahi, Black Champa, Cheema Sahebi, Convent Large Black, Queen of the Vineyards and Thompson Seedless was studied on bunch and berry characters. It was found that bunch and berry size was effectively increased with all the parents. The pollen parents Queen of the Vineyards, Thompson Seedless and Anab-e-Shahi markedly increased the T. S. S. content of the berries. For commercial cultivation of the cultivar Angur-Kalan, the grape varieties Thompson Seedless and Anab-e-Shahi were found to be best pollinator parents.
