Abstract

Two independent experiments were conducted under irrigated and rainfed conditions with varying levels of nitrogen. Five levels of nitrogen were tried to find out optimum requirement of ratoon crop in Kew pineapple. No application of nitrogen served as control. Levels of nitrogen significantly influenced the growth, yield and quality of pineapple. Ten gram nitrogen for ratoon crop both under irrigated and rainfed conditions gave best results with respect to growth, yield and quality of fruits. Acidity was reduced by nitrogen application while, T. S. S. acid ratio increased with increasing level of nitrogen. Irrigation during hot months through sprinkler increased the yield by 28.51 per cent. The T. S. S. and T. S. S./acid ratio were higher under rainfed condition.
