Abstract

Forty-five genotypes were sown in randomised blook design with three replications with the object of studying genetic variability and character association of twelve characters. High heritability estimates were found for yield, length of fruit, length of cavity and length of vines. High heritability with high genetic advance were observed for yield per plant (31.440), number of fruit (20.730) and weight of fruit (19.53). Selection of these parameters seems to be effective for the improvement. Yield per plant was found significant and positively associated with number of fruits, weight of fruits, node at which first hermaphrodite flower appeared, number of branches and length of vines at genotypic and phenotypic levels.
