Abstract

The rate of RuBP carboxylase activity was determined in two cultivars of lemon by measuring the incorporation of 14CO2 into cellular material in the presence of added Ribulose-l,5-biphosphate. In most cases, enzyme activity was higher in Pant lemon-1 than in Malta lemon in both the flushes. The enzyme activity increased with leaf age obtaining highest activity in the 2nd month in the spring flush and 3rd month in rainy season flush. The fruit pericarp also showed the same trend of changes as in the leaves.
