‘Basrai’ bananas were planted on twelve different dates in a year (1977–78) and repeated the trial in 1979–80 under South Gajarat conditions at Navsari, to find out the most appropriate planting period. It was recorded that suckers planted in June gave the highest income, yield and maximum vegetative growth. May, July and April plantings also gave good production. In winter plantation, the vegetative growth was reduced and the yields were also significantly low.
