It can be seen from the preceding pages that there is a big gap between the research needs and the work done so far. It is necessary to initiate and intensify the research on the lines proposed to put the viticulture industry on sound footing in different regions of our country. However, our priorities should aim at work resulting in disease-resistant varieties; standardizing training systems involving low initial investment; agro-techniques with low operating costs coupled with economic and efficient use of inputs, means to improve quality through new variety introduction, crop regulation; prevention of post-harvest losses through crop utilization and tackling new emerging problems. There is also need for classifying different grape growing areas into various regions based on similar regions of the world.
