Abstract

The influence of 9 rootstocks on the leaf nutrient composition of 4 lemon (Citrus limon. L), cultivars as scions was studied. Vigorous rootstocks with deeper root-systems such as Rough lemon, Cleopatra mandarin and Rangpur lime were found to be more efficient in the absorption of cationic nutrients K, Ca, Mg and Zn, whereas those with a dwarfing tendency (trifoliate oranges and their hybrids) resulted in higher contents of N and P in scion leaves. Citrumelo and Citranges resulted in very low leaf Mn contents than the others indicating that these may be more suitable on acidic soils with high Mn content where Mn toxicity is a potential problem.
