Seedcoat colour inheritance studies in dwarf French bean varieties were carried out. It was observed that the seedcoat colour in these studied varieties were controlled by the genes P, the basic gene or groundfactor; C, colour factor; D, the bilum ring factor and the three modifying factors i.e., G, yellow brown factor; B, the (grey) greenish brown factor and V, the violet factor. Following gene formulae can be suggested to these dwarf French bean varieties, Black prince, PP CC DD GG BB VV; Bountiful, PP CC DD GG bb viae viae; Masterpiece, PP CC DD gg bb viae viae; and Premier, PP CC DD gg BB viae viae.
