Abstract

Correlation coefficients both genotypic and phenotypic amongst eight quantitative traits viz. plant height, days to flower, days to maturity, branches per plant, pods per plant, seeds per pod, 100-seed weight and yield per plant and path coefficient analysis were worked out for 5 selections and their Fx hybrids in fenugreek. In general, the genotypic correlation coefficients were higher than phenotypic correlations. Only pods per plant had significant positive correlation with yield per plant. Path coefficient analysis revealed that days to maturity, branches per plant, seeds per pod and 100-seed weight had direct positive effect on yield per plant, and therefore, they may be given more weightage in fenugreek breeding programme.
