Abstract

Genetical study with sex reversing male and pure male has revealed the presence of multiple allelism at sex determining locus in papaya. When sex reversing males were selfed, it segregated in the ratio of 3: 1 for sex reversing and pure male types. On the other hand, when they were crossed with pure male, the segregation ration of 1: 1 was observed. The genetic symbols for sex reversing male are proposed as M1RR m or MRr m and for pure male M1rr m.
