Abstract

The results of the uniformity trial with cauliflower conducted at Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Ranchi indicated that C. V. decreases with the increase in the plot size, it was about 10 per cent and the decrease was relatively small when the plot size was increased beyond 36 units. Neighbouring plots showed a high degree of positive correlation and the Smith law was found to be good fit. The shape of the plot had no consistent effect on C. V. The experimental error was found to vary between 9 and 22 per cent. With fixed area for experimentation smaller plots were found to be more efficient than larger ones. A plot of size 7.5 m2 to 9.0 m* was found suitable for field trials on cauliflower.
