All types of meiotic configurations were studied and statistically analysed in four selections (genotypes) of advanced autotetraploid (C12) fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) with special emphasis on comparative behaviour and impact of all types of meiotic configurations among themselves in four different genotypes. 20 plants from each genotype and 20 PMCS per plant were analysed for chiasma-, quadri (ring and chain), tri- (ring and chain) bi- (ring and rod) and univalent frequency. Plant to plant variation was analysed for different meiotic features. Analysis of variance indicated that all the four genotypes differed significantly only for the bivalent frequency and there were lack of significant differences between selections for all other meiotic configurations. Correlation studies showed that all the selections except for selection 3 follow same pattern of meiotic behaviour. It is clear from our study that there are some factors other than multivalent formation and other meiotic anomalies which are responsible for poor fertility in autotetraploid Trigonella.
