Abstract

Phenotypic variability for berry quality in grapes with respect of TSS, reducing sugars, acidity and TSS/acid ratio was studied in the progenies of three intercultivar crosses. Majority of the hybrids were medium in TSS, reducing sugars, acidity and low to medium in TSS/acid ratio. The hybrids having high TSS in their berries were 7, 12 and 2 in crosses Karachi Gulabi × Thompson Seedless; Karachi Gulabi × Himrod and Karachi Gulabi × Perlette respectively. The highest mean values for TSS and TSS/acid ratio were given by cross Karachi Gulabi × Himrod. The proportion of hybrids producing berries with high TSS/acid was also higher in this cross.
