Abstract

Eight almond cultivars were studied for fruit-set following selling, open and cross-pollination. AH cvs. were found to be self-incompatible and some cross-incompatible. The open-pollination resulted in zero to 5.8 per cent fruit-set in different cultivars. The frait-set by cross-pollination varied from 1.4 (Bruce × California Papershell) to 37.4 per cent (California Papershell × H.P.S.-7) in cross-pompatible crosses. The best female parent was IXL, whereas, the best male parent was Parhick's Wonder. California Papershell can be planted with Hybrid. 15 or Pethick's Wonder while H.P.S.-7 can be used as supporting pollinizer. Afghanistan Seedlingcan be planted with IXL.
