Abstract

A grape nutritional survey was conducted around Hyderabad to study decine in vineyards. The ground water was found to contain soluble salts (EC > 1.0 mmhos/cm at 25°C) and chloride (> 3.0 me Cl/I) in toxic concentrations. Soil salinity was the other cause for stunted growth of the vines and inferior quality of grapes. The soil fertility evaluation indicated build up of available P, K and S. Iron was the only micronutrient deficient due to high pH and free calcium carbonate.
